Tour Details: Come enjoy an afternoon on Staten Island learning about our treasured history and visiting many of the beloved cultural attractions we have to offer! We ask the participants to meet our tour bus at the Staten Island Ferry Shuttle Bus Depot at 9:30am. They will be greeted by our tour guide, Staten Island's very own historian, Dr. Thomas Matteo. After picking everyone up from the ferry, the bus will take the group to the first location - the Jacques Marchais Museum of Tibetan Art (338 Lighthouse Avenue, SI NY 10306). Here, you can observe and appreciate the art and culture of Tibet and the Himalayas. The second stop will be Historic Richmond Town (441 Clarke Avenue, SI NY 10306), where you can explore over 30 original historical structures, dating back to the 17th century, and learn more about the Americans who struggled, survived, and thrived from the colonial period to the present! Next, the group will stop at the Greenbelt Nature Center (700 Rockland Avenue, SI NY 10314); located at the heart of the Greenbelt, this Nature Center allows visitors access to hiking trails, learn about the various programs and activities offered there, or to simply relax and enjoy the beautiful wooded grounds. The fourth stop on this tour will be at Battery Weed, located in Fort Wadsworth (East end of Bay Street near the Verrazano Bridge, SI NY 10305). As one of the oldest military sites in the United States, Fort Wadsworth helped protect New York City for over 200 years; Battery Weed also offers some of the most breathtaking views of the New York Harbor!
